Farnborough was established in Saxon times, the name meaning fern hill. There are several historic buildings in Farnborough, including an Inn called Tumble Down Dick. Built in the 17th century, this building building has been converted into a McDonalds restaurant. St Michael's Abbey was founded in 1881, and is the resting place of Napoleon 3rd. Tower Hill in Cove has many hundred Sarsen stones, although there used to be many more - evidence shows that many have been used in building projects through the centuries.
